Qualifications

  • Must be willing to travel and relocate. Project sites are located domestically and internationally, so relocation and/or travel are required.
  • Extensive mechanical, electrical and plumbing experience. Minimum 5+ years of commercial construction experience with a focus on MEP systems.
  • Strong understanding of MEP related codes and standards.
  • Strong understanding of MEP system startup, testing and commissioning.
  • Ability and experience working with clients, engineers, subcontractors and authority having jurisdiction personnel.
  • Understanding of MEP systems permitting and compliance.
  • Experience supervising multiple foremen/construction crews and subcontractors.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills. 
  • Safety oriented with an understanding of MEP related safety regulations, 10-hour and 30 hour OSHA certificates are preferred.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to function as a team-builder/player.
  • Ability to anticipate and resolve project challenges.
  • Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and
  • Estimating and planning experience for MEP systems.
  • Proficient computer skills and the use of various construction management software.
  • Strong work ethic; willing to do what it takes to get the job done.

Responsibilities

  • Manage construction safety.
  • Manage environmental and quality compliance.
  • Understand / manage project costs and budgets.
  • Oversee installation, testing and inspection of the following systems: mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, low voltage / automation systems and fire/life safety systems.
  • Participate in pre-construction activities with project team to review estimates, proposals, schedule, sequencing and logistics.
  • Schedule and manage construction activities, sequencing and the selection of engineering staff, crew workforce, equipment, and tools for maximum utilization and quality of work.
  • Review, interpret and understand Contract Documents including specifications, drawings, and designs.
  • Establish working relationships between clients, subcontractors and Barnard team members.
  • Oversee, manage, and document all day-to-day MEP job site activities and challenges.
  • Coordinate subcontractor work scopes in conjunction with other subcontractors and Barnard self-perform work crews.
  • Participate in meetings and inspections with clients, engineers, subcontractors, authorities having jurisdiction and others, as required.
  • Participate in and review MEP related shop drawings, submittals and RFI’s.
  • Review timecards and invoices for proper cost distribution and accountability.
  • Tracks schedule and budget progress with project milestones and takes all action necessary to keep project on track.
  • Determines, controls, and maintains field discipline schedules and budgets.
  • Assist in work scope closeout activities inclusive of systems testing, commissioning, client trainings, punch list and systems turnover.
  • Ensure all employees and subcontractors are current in and compliant with all Barnard safety policies, and have received required safety training and equipment.
