Overview

Rapidly growing Bozeman, Montana-based national contractor is seeking a self-motivated Proposal Specialist. Proposal Specialists are key members of our bidding teams, working as dedicated resources within each operating group (heavy civil, hydropower and renewables, underground, power delivery, and oil and gas) to support Barnard’s efforts to win work. Leading and directing the creation of best-in-class proposals and presentations, Proposal Specialists use their expertise to craft pursuit-specific win strategies while also ensuring the compliance of all proposal submittals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, Graphic Design, Journalism, or Communications
  • 3+ years of proposal management experience preferred.
  • Experience in the construction/engineering/architecture industry a plus.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, changing environment while managing multiple projects.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
  • Experience in developing proposal templates, newsletters and other marketing collateral.

Responsibilities

  • Assumes overall responsibility for individual proposal-related deliverables such as prequalifications, proposals, and presentations, including the assignment of specific tasks to other proposal team members and follow-up to ensure completion.
  • Establishes pre-production document management and file-sharing for proposal teams.
  • Coordinates content collection with teaming partners and subcontractors, as needed.
  • With minimal supervision, responsible for independently reviewing Request for Proposal (RFP) requirements and coordinating a professional, thorough proposal.
  • Assists in developing content for key sections, including written responses and identification and creation of appropriate graphics.
  • Leads the proposal process by facilitating reviews at key milestones and proposal workshops to assist the team in developing key win strategies and proposal-specific content that meets the client’s requirements.
  • Works closely with the proposal Technical Editor to ensure key messages are communicated clearly, messaging is consistent, and the proposal complies with the RFP requirements.
  • Implements standard pursuit management methods, tools, techniques, and competencies.
  • Participates in debriefs, identifying areas of improved performance for lessons learned as well as areas of excellence for best practices.
  • Serves as the subject matter expert for proposal-related deliverables and provides mentoring to others as appropriate.
  • Performs additional non-traditional marketing responsibilities, including maintaining the resume and project profile database, performing website updates, creating marketing materials to support business development activities, and developing other external communications to support overall company messaging.
